  7. Amiga  centre scotland have unveiled plans to release an Amiga OS-compa-
  8. tible computer early next year, based on the Motorola 68060, it has been
  9. developed  bt Macrosystem gmbH of germany and named the DraCo, the twist
  10. in  the  tale  is that the computer will only run software that does not
  11. rely on the Amiga custom chips.

  13. Thats  not  the  initial  disaster that it may seem, any program that is
  14. system  compatible and runs on boards such as the Rainbow,Piccolo or Pi-
  15. casso  will  work  with the DraCo, this includes software such as ADPro,
  16. Lightwave,  ImageFX,  and Photogenics, hardware compatibility is handled
  17. with  five  Zorro II slots, hardware that uses the custom chips will not
  18. work, this includes 880k floppy drives, genlocks,and the Video Toaster.

  20. Aimed  at  power graphic users, Amiga centre Scotland hope that the sys-
  21. tem  will attract users from other platforms:"the quality of Amiga soft-
  22. ware  has long been a source of envy for those involved with other mach-
  23. ines,  the DraCo will release the power and creativity that Amiga enthu-
  24. siasts have always known was there,"said Martin Lowe of ACS.

  26. The  DraCo will be housed in a full-sized tower with 4Mb of RAM minimum,
  27. expandable  to  128Mb  using on-board 72-pin SIMM modules, the SCSI con-
  28. troller  is  the  same as the one used in the Warp Engine and guarantees
  29. the  highest  data  transfer  rates  with  a maximum of free CPU time, a
  30. parallel  port and triple speed CD-ROM drive will also be included,soft-
  31. ware  can  be transferred from existing Amiga platforms, pricing has not
  32. yet been finalised.
